The Florist of the Future competition is a fantastic way to showcase talents at a professional level.
This year’s theme for the regional heats was ‘naturally inspired’ and each florist was tasked with creating an original bridal design, a small floral tree and a surprise item in the final round.
Congratulations to Ana Bela Mitchell from Wine & Roses who was one of eight finalists who won their regional heats to qualify for the Grand Final of the Interflora Florist of the Future.
She proudly represents Wales in the competition which is to be held at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Tatton Flower Show in July 2013.
“I love being creative and I am passionately competitive about my work. Having the chance to compete in Florist of the Future was a great opportunity to take my floristry experience to another level, challenging my confidence and practical creativity under pressure”. – Ana Bela Mitchell

Ana Bela Mitchell’s Interflora – Biography
Leaving my beautiful native Portuguese island of Madeira, my career in the UK started in catering, culminating in becoming an AA Rosette award winning Chef in my own fine dining bistro. During this time I used to dress the dining tables with fresh flower designs and create pedestal arrangements.
Looking for a new career challenge my partner and I sold our restaurant and I enrolled onto a City & Guilds Level 1 Floristry Course. During which time I worked part-time in a few local florist shops to gain essential work experience.
I have continued my training with the Level 2 & Level 3 courses whilst opening and establishing Wine & Roses, my own Floral & Wine Boutique in the chic neighbourhood of Pontcanna in Cardiff 2 years ago.
